– Installing PlaceEngine
The PlaceEngine Client software works in conjunction with the PlaceEngine server to collect information about Wi-Fi access points. Please install the client by following the procedure below that is appropriate to your operating system.
PlaceEngine Client for Windows Vista / 7 (64 bit)
This software is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7 PCs with wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) hardware installed. Please follow the installation procedure below, which must be performed whilst logged into an account with administrative privileges.

| Click the "Download" button immediately below to download the PlaceEngine Client installation package. | |
| 2 | Install |
| Double-click the downloaded installation package to start the installation. After accepting the Terms And Conditions Of Use, the PlaceEngine Client (PlaceEngine.exe) will be installed. | |
| 3 | Launch |
| Launch the PlaceEngine Client (Start Menu -> Programs -> PlaceEngine) |

PlaceEngine Client for Windows XP (32 bit)
This software is for use with Windows XP PCs with wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) hardware installed. The PlaceEngine Client for Windows XP requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above. As the PlaceEngine Client installation contains the .NET Framework 2.0 redistributable that can be used, the download is around 26 megabytes. If .NET Framework 2.0 is already installed on your PC then you can use the standalone PlaceEngine Client installation package.
Please follow the installation procedure below, which must be performed whilst logged into an account with administrative privileges.

PlaceEngine Client software for Windows Mobile
Currently PlaceEngine for Windows Mobile only supports the Willcom W-ZERO3 device available in Japan. We hope to support more devices in the future. Please follow the following steps:

| The CAB installer package can be downloaded directly to the mobile device (such as the W-ZERO3). It can also be first downloaded to a PC and then transfered to the mobile device by using ActiveSync software. Next, locate the downloaded package via Start > FileExplorer on the mobile device. Finally, execute the package to complete installation. The PlaceEngine Client software will be installed in: \Program Files\PlaceEngine\. | |
